  • In this position, you will spearhead the development and execution of integrated marketing strategies aimed at driving market growth, enhancing brand equity, and contributing directly to revenue targets. As the leader of the local marketing function, you will serve as both a strategic marketing leader and a hands-on executor, merging brand-building initiatives with impactful trade marketing campaigns that stimulate sales through retail channels and DSR networks. This role demands a dynamic professional capable of collaborating with our Global Marketing team on brand and above-the-line initiatives while crafting and implementing effective below-the-line campaigns that yield measurable business outcomes.
  • As the Country Marketing Manager, your role will be crucial in building customer trust and facilitating our transition into a fintech leader. You will transform M-KOPA’s strategic vision of evolving into a Smart Money Platform into engaging brand narratives and campaigns that resonate with local audiences. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire marketing spectrum—from strategic brand positioning and above-the-line campaigns to grassroots field activations and trade channel development. You will manage marketing budgets, utilize data analytics to optimize ROI across media channels, create compelling social media content, oversee online communities, and implement comprehensive through-the-line marketing strategies.
  • This role requires a blend of strategic thinking and tactical execution: developing quarterly marketing plans aligned with business objectives, leading integrated campaigns across digital and offline channels, forging high-impact partnerships with local stakeholders, and driving innovation by embracing new marketing technologies and media formats. If you excel in environments where brand-building intersects with performance marketing, where strategic vision translates into actionable initiatives, and where your efforts directly promote financial inclusion across Africa, this role is ideal for you.
  • This is an on-site position based in our Kenya offices, where you will collaborate with a diverse team of employees from various markets and locations across the UK, Europe, and Africa. You will report to the Head of Business Management.

Expertise

  • We seek a dynamic marketing leader with 5-7 years of progressive marketing experience, showcasing success in brand marketing, below-the-line activation, partnerships, and digital marketing. Ideally, your background should stem from FMCG companies, Mobile Network Operators, mobile device firms, or BTL marketing agencies managing FMCG or telecommunications accounts. You must demonstrate proven experience in both strategic marketing planning and hands-on trade marketing execution—someone equally adept at developing annual marketing strategies and actively participating in market activations.
  • Strong trade marketing expertise is essential. You should have a track record of developing and executing BTL strategies for retail partners and distribution networks, including dealer incentive programs, consumer promotions, in-store merchandising, point-of-sale materials, and field marketing activations such as roadshows, market storms, and community events. A solid understanding of Kenya’s retail landscape—covering modern trade, general trade, and informal markets—is critical for success in this role.
  • You must possess advanced proficiency in digital marketing and social media platforms, particularly Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging channels. Experience with social media performance management tools, analytics platforms like Supermetrics and Looker Studio, and paid advertising systems is required. You should be capable of creating engaging multimedia content, managing online communities, developing content calendars, and optimizing campaigns based on performance data.
  • The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of team management experience, demonstrating the ability to lead, develop, and inspire marketing professionals to achieve excellence. You should exhibit strong stakeholder management skills, with the capacity to influence senior leaders, represent marketing in cross-functional forums, and cultivate productive partnerships with product, sales, digital, and commercial teams.
