The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has dedicated the past two decades to enhancing global safety by combating drugs, organized crime, corruption, and terrorism. Recognizing that these issues often exceed the capacity of individual states, UNODC provides practical assistance and advocates for collaborative international efforts. We operate through global programs and a network of field offices across all regions.
The intern will be responsible for a range of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Conducting research using electronic sources on transnational organized crime, with a focus on mineral-related crimes and other pertinent topics;
- Assisting in the preparation of concept notes and background documents to evaluate existing knowledge and propose actionable strategies for the program;
- Supporting the CAE team with desk work, including fact-checking, editing, and proofreading;
- Contributing to the development of promotional materials, social media content, and website updates;
- Facilitating the efficient collection and organization of data by establishing and maintaining files using standard organizational methods;
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Special Skills
- Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- or be enrolled in or have recently completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Proficiency in standard software applications; a demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter; and the ability to effectively interact with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs, demonstrating tolerance and understanding of differing opinions.
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s, or Ph.D. program, or have completed such programs.
